On June 1. 1974 Paul got his signature tattoo of a rose at Lyle Tuttle’s tattoo parlor in Los Angeles.

Paul Stanley:
“When I got my tattoo, we were stranded at a hotel in Los Angeles with neither shows nor money. After breakfast with the guys, without telling them, I decided to go across the street and get a tattoo. I chose a rose. While I was getting it done, I made a deal with myself that this would be the one and only, because I had seen people where one invariably led to another, which invariably led to another.”

Paul Stanley, “Face the Music”:
“We set up camp at the Ramada Inn in L.A. for a month in August to make Hotter Than Hell. We each got our own room this time. We felt like stars. Walking around one morning after breakfast, I noticed Lyle Tuttle’s tattoo parlor on Sunset Boulevard. I walked in. I decided I would get one tattoo — I swore to myself that it would be one, just one, for life. I knew I didn’t want a skull with a top hat ora battleship or “Mom,” so I settled on a rose on my shoulder.”
