On 24. August, 1980, Kiss’ new drummer, Eric Carr participated in a promotional photo session for Ludwig Drums at LaGrange, Illinois, following a new endorsement deal. The session was less than a month after making his live debut with Kiss at the Palladium in New York. The session produced a series of promotional photographs that Ludwig would use to advertise Carr as one of the company’s featured artists.
The photo shoot came during a hectic period in Carr’s career. After auditioning for Kiss in June, he officially joined the band in July, signed his five-year contract on 24. July, took part in his first Kiss photo session the same day, and made his live debut on 25. July.
The LaGrange session featured Carr posing with his Ludwig drum kit in full fox makeup and costume. Several images from the shoot were later issued as Ludwig promotional photographs and remain among the earliest non-Kiss publicity photos of Eric Carr following his arrival in the band.
