On 29. June, 1977, Kiss entered Hangar E at Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, New York, for five days of “Love Gun” tour dress rehearsals. The hangar was home to Theatre Technics, the stage construction company responsible for building the band’s stage set. During the rehearsals, Ace Frehley wore the original “Love Gun” costume made of reflective mylar material, which was later replaced with a more glittery lamé version before the Can-Am Tour began on 8. July, 1977, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. After transporting the equipment to Canada, the band held another full dress rehearsal on 7. July at the venue in Halifax to reassemble the stage, verify all effects after transport, and make final adjustments before opening night the day after.

Jeff Suhs and Curt Gooch:
“On June 29, KISS returned to the Theatre Techniques facility in Newburgh, New York where rehearsals for the tour were held through July 3. Additional dress rehearsals were done on July 7 at the Halifax Forum, site of the tour’s debut concert. During rehearsals, KISS began using the wireless guitar system that Vega had developed. The system worked well enough to be implemented for the tour, making KISS the first band in history to use what would become a standard in the industry.”
