The photo session took place on the same day Kiss was filmed for the Australian ABC television program Countdown. According to official Aucoin Management paperwork, the interview with Ian “Molly” Meldrum began at 8:30 p.m. at the Brooklyn Heights Promenade before moving to the rooftop of World Trade Center Tower 1, where filming concluded around 11:00 p.m.
The timing of the photo session is fitting, as St. Paul’s Chapel stands directly across from the World Trade Center, making it a convenient location before or after the Countdown filming. The later photographs at Grand Central Terminal were taken roughly five miles away, suggesting the session continued elsewhere in Manhattan later that day.
The resulting images became some of the earliest professional publicity photographs of Eric Carr following his introduction as Kiss’ new drummer.
